- Capabilities
- Capable of gently drying frozen samples using the principle of sublimation
- Only for aqueous samples without any organic solvents
- Samples should be submitted minimum one day prior to the slot date
- Samples containing azides or other volatile substances are not permissible
- Samples have to be submitted in petri dish, cryovials, microcentrifuge tubes, culture dishes, well plates and plastic sample containers
- Sample quantity must not exceed 25 % of the total volume of the container
- Samples must be completely frozen and the opening/ mouth of the container must be covered with aluminum foil with small holes poked using a needle
- If the samples are powders or small particles in suspension, cover with a couple of tissue paper or kimwipes without poking holes
- Applications
Freeze drying is a method in which a completely frozen sample is placed in a vacuum to remove water or other solvents, allowing the ice to convert directly from a solid to a vapor without going through a liquid phase.
